Fermentation ?

Post by coldfoot80 » Sun Jan 18, 2015 10:34 am

My BIAB has been fernenting for 1 week now and there is no activity in the airlock anymore ive done a gravity reading and it has dropped from 1.040 to 1.010 temperature is still good, has the fermentation stopped and should I start bottling ? I was planning on leaving it for 2 weeks and I don't want to jump the gun .

Thanks

Make sure you get the same reading over 2-3 days. Especially if you are bottling, you don't want bottle bombs!

I aim for 2 weeks min in the FV. Tends to clear a lot and you get less sediment in the bottles.

Are you able to drop the temperature? Once you think fermentation has finished, lowering the temperature will help the beer drop clear.
