Hi All

Planning on doing my first Biab tomorrow (bank hol monday)and was wondering if Ive got things right in my head

Using beersmith 2 for volumes and will be making belgain blonde.so here it is

water up to 70c
grain bag in and dough in grains
cover and leave to mash for 60-90 mins??
lift and drain and start to heat wort up
bring to boil and had first additions hops 90 min boil
add candi sugar 15 mins before end
add irish moss 15 mins before end
add wort chiller to sanitise
chill wort and add to fermentor
pitch yeast

Have I missed anything ?

If you're using dried yeast such as Nottingham, you're done - it doesn't need any aeration.

Otherwise, add a long handled spoon 15 minutes before the end of boil. When you drain to the fermentor you can use the spoon to beat up a froth and get extra air into the wort.

Looks right. Brewing is little more than steeping and boiling grain really.

make sure you sanitise your fermenter!

Only thing I would do is; 10 mins before the irish moss is due, get a mug of your wort out and add the moss to that and stir. Then add that back in at 15 mins from the end.

also, before you add the hops, pour off a cupful of wort into a mug for either a) a coffee made with wort or b) a warm whisky and wort. nothing like on-the-day gratification 8)
