Old Speckled Hen clone.....

Post by WalesAles » Mon Feb 22, 2016 12:00 pm

Hello Everyone,
Brewed this Yesterday from GW book page 174.
Everything went well up until the point of adding water to get to my target OG 1050 at 22deg.
I ended up with 17Lts at 1050 instead of the expected 19Lts. #-o
Why is this?
All help greatly appreciated.

Your efficiency will be different to that assumed in the book. Also, his volumes are not for BIAB. I always enter recipes into the BIABacus so that it is tailored for my setup.

Cheers for the page number reference of the recipe, it will save me getting it confused with the other OSH recipe in the book

Hello Everyone,
Little help with this Brew please................
I am bottling this Beer on Sunday, GW`s book doesn`t give the amount of priming sugar to use. #-o
Should I just go with 42.5gr for the 17Lts?
All help greatly appreciated! :D

Using table sugar that would give you a fraction under 1.5 volumes of CO2 (.86 of CO2 in beer at 20c), so that would suit me what about you?
I am "The Little Red Brooster"

Fermenting:
Conditioning:
Drinking: Southwold Again,

Up Next: John Barleycorn (Barley Wine)
Planning: Winter drinking Beer

Changed my mind on this brew! :D
It is `Bloody Lovely Mun` :D
Yes, it`s flat, but so is the Bass from the keg from my local!
It`s got a beery / sherry smell, tastes OK now, strong alcohol taste.
Super clear, a good looking beer! :D

LMFAO when I googled LMFAO! :D =D> =D>
