I found these details with the original recipe post.
It's from across the pond so I will have to get the unit converter app fired up.
Mash Watercalculator

I was going to use bulldog type clips to fix the bag to the rim of the boiler to keep it off the element.
I use an upside down Pizza tray to keep the bag off the element. The bag will be very heavy, the clips might not work.
Read through the Posts on BIAB, there are lots of new brewers asking the same questions. Lots of good Info to be found!

This is a cheap way of keeping the bag off of the element but I would still use a bazooka filter or similar on the tap.

I found a circular wire cake stand in a charity shop for 50p. POV brewer me!
Re: Preparing my first BIAB
I used this as a guide for my first biab on 16/3.
http://www.thehomebrewcompany.co.uk/gui ... 8_239.html
I actually heated 20litres then doughed in and topped up with another 2 litres of boiled water as I was outside and strike temp had dropped from dead on 70°c to about 63°c (if I get to ikea before the next brew i'll be getting oneof those extending strainers as well as cheap digital thermometer ), I am going to aim for at 72°c before adding grain in future.
I then drained to a fv and sparged with another 10 litres of boiled water (stored in.my old 15litre pan which I placed on top of the towel wrapped boiled during the mash cooled with the staggered 2 litre additions it had cooled to pretty much 80degrees) and squeezed until I hit the 27 litre mark for the boil.
I had measured the dead space at 2.5 litres and didn't add the end of boil hop soup to my fv and hit 20litres (at the suggested sg of 1.060) according to the scale on my fv so lost approximately 5 litres during the boil.
Good luck with your brew!
