will a 24" bag fit a 50l pot?
Evening Brewers,
looking to start BIAB. looking at the 50l pots, they are all 400mm diameter. Most of the bags around that size are 24" x24" which by my cakes is an exact fit - or is it too tight? Should I go for a 72 litre bag?

Hi Pat,
Have a look here: http://brewinabag.co.uk/en/
Best quality bags and easy to select the right one for pot size.

I have the 50cm bags from brew uk which are therefore smaller than your quoted 24" ones and they fit a 50l 40cm pan.
Admitidly the fit is very tight but this means the bag stays in place by itself. So a 24" one will fit fine.

ok, so bought a 24"x24" bag, and guess what? it doesn't fit. whilst this is mainly because it's actually 23x24 so too small, I probably actually needed 26x 24. Ended up with the 100 liter bag from malt Miller and fits nicely. with a lot less slack than you'd imagine!

Thats unfortunate i guess the 23" is just too small. The 24" x 24" bags that i use are very tight to get onto the pan with the first time being the worst. I suppose mine have stretched slightly as they are now easier to fitpatwestlake wrote:ok, so bought a 24"x24" bag, and guess what? it doesn't fit. whilst this is mainly because it's actually 23x24 so too small, I probably actually needed 26x 24. They fit a 40l Buffalo (which I think are 40cm) but as mentioned it is pretty tight.

Re-measured the pot and its actually 40cm internally, nearer 41 over the lip. Never mind, I have a very large and roomy bag for the hop spider!!
