Would this work?

Post by bottles » Wed Mar 21, 2018 11:36 pm

Hi I'm getting a maxi pump to help with whirlpooling at end of boil. Then i got thinking that I could recirculate during the mash to help clear the wort.
I use a 50ltr boiler with a 2400w element and use a nylon bag to hold the grain.
Now my question is if I make a guard to keep the bag off the element could I use the element to do step mashes?
I've searched to see if anyone has done this but can't find anything. Which makes me think there's a flaw in my plan?

It would probably scorch the wort. Try recurculating the wort through copper pipe held in water which you could keep hot with an element
