question for cask breather users

I am using a cask breather and plastic pins
my question is what do people do in the way of sanitising the breather spigot and gas hose etc?
I know if you soft spile correctly then it should only be co2 going out through the spigot not any beer but my thoughts are.
If any beer does go into the gas line /breather, when gas is fed into the cask then any nasties from stale beer in the breather/line will also go in,(or does this not happen as the line is permanently filled with gas so no nasties grow.
Of course I will starsan the spigot before hammering it into the shive but what else if anything should I be doing
