Sterilizing regulators / gas pipes

Post by legion » Wed Feb 26, 2014 6:33 pm

Hi,

Am setting up my polykegs for the first time. I am using a multiple regulator which has primary and secondary combimed for connecting my keg, its rather old. Am wondering whether I should be doing any sort of sterilizing with the regulator and gas pipes to ensure they are clean?

Don't know what others have done but I pour starsan through the gas lines and that's about it. Pretty sure the co2 going through the reg would kill any nasties
Cheers and gone,

Anaerobic bacteria can still live in gas lines but they aren't a huge issue. I still starsan my gas lines. Whatever you do make sure your lines are dry because after the initial push and hiss, the pressure in the line will equalise and any liquid left in the line will run down hill to your regulator. A wet regulator is a faulty one.
