racking bright into a PB for transport

Post by Rowang » Tue Apr 18, 2017 8:34 pm

Hi all,

So I am going to knock out 5 brews for my wedding. 2xAPA, 1xNZPA, 1xIPA, 1xGinger pale.

I have invested in 5 pressure barrels (I normally bottle) - Havent used PBs in ages.

I am planning to dispense a little out of my comfort zone - can anyone reassure me it won't go tits up?

I plan to brew, ferment and then drop to a secondary to dry hop.. after 5 days into PB with priming sugar for a couple of weeks.. then chill for 24hours, and rack bright into another PB (while cold to preserve as much dissolved CO2 as I can).

I would hope that after another week or so in the dispensing PB there would be decent conditioning with minimal sediment. The brew will need to be transported and while it can be left to settle for 3 days where it will be served, I am not able to use any gelatine/isinglass (vegan guests).

To dispense, I plan to degas the PBs on the day, and serve with gravity (hopefully already in condition from being in the barrel).

Can anyone see a hole in my plan? Criticism warmly invited!
