Corny Kegging... FINALLY!

Post by floydmeddler » Tue May 16, 2017 7:59 pm

Hi folks,

After almost 10 years of homebrewing, I've finally decided that I'd like a kegerator in my brewery. For this, I need corny kegs!

I know that Rob sells the whole set up. However, before I start buying new, I was wondering if anyone here would be interested in selling anything suitable?

Lastly... How do I go about getting gas. To be honest, the whole gas thing has always been a deterrent for me; seems like a PITA to sort out.

Cheers in advance!

I recently made the leap into kegging too and got my CO2 bottle from a local gas and air seller. You can get 2nd hand ones but be wary as you don't know if they've been looked after and some suppliers won't refill them if they are too old or not in good condition.

You'd be a irish man in brighton... , so get your gas bottle from gp Barnes in shoreham, NO DEPOSIT, and only 2 /3 wks ago it was £18.50 fo a big pub gas bottle (6kg)

Go into the boat spares shop, that's what it is, and either the guy will take your cash and walk you to the gas yard where you get the bottle or the woman will sell you and tell you to go to the gas yard and see the guy.

If you need more info ? There is plenty here

Corny kegs are not the only option. Many of us use Sankey kegs such as those from Crusader.

Hahaha! They served me well. Time to upgrade now, though.

I've been using 2L PET bottles for a few years. Very handy but not exactly classy!

I deserve this...

Corny seemed the better option for me based on the research I did. Easier to clean and cheaper. Corny seem to be the most popular choice. Plus, Rob (Maltmiller) has a whole set up for sale at a decent price at the click of a mouse! :-)

I'm thinking about having around 4 kegs. Need to find me a big ole' larder fridge or chest freezer...

3 Perlicks from eBay (used), 2 CMB creamers (new) from BrewUK - they have a neat creaming function when you push the tap back. If I was to buy more I'd have a look at the Intertaps from Maltmiller - I've heard good things about them.
