CO2 splitter

Post by m_rawdin » Sun Jul 02, 2017 10:42 pm

Just wondered if anyone knows the best way to attach 3/8 gas line to one of these? Ideally I'd like to change the barbs for John guest fittings, does anyone know what size the screw threads on the input and outputs?

Just put the gas line in boiling water to soften and then put over the barbs. You can also use clips for an extra layer of protection but if you do not use special clamps that do not deform, e.g. stepless clamps, then you actually risk creating a leak from deforming the gas line.
If you did want to swap out the barbs it depends on the brand as some use the BSP thread and some the US NTP (?) ones.

Are the barbs pretty small then and the internal diameter of 3/8 gas line isn't very big.

Not sure on the size of my beer line, but have the exact splitter and had to use jubilee clips.

+1 for pushing on the 3/8 line and then securing with hose clips. I have two of the Krome 4 barb manifolds and the clips are probably not necessary as they are a nice tight fit. I pushed on a piece of 3/8 about 5cm long and then used a 3/8-3/16 reducer to switch to 3/16 line into the kegerator - it's so much easier to work with!

Also peeps that have those with the JG Fittings find that they don't like much or little sideway pressure. They find out they had a leak when the gas runs out unexpectedly.

I think I might stick to using the barbs and jubilee clips if I need to.

jubilee clips do not work, they pinch and cause leaks, its Oetiker Clamps you need for the small pipes

Ah OK, I've no idea what an Oetiker clamp is so I feel a Google adventure coming on...
