Re: Coopers Imperial Stout
Excellent stuff. If I remember right I bottled mine after 3 weeks and the final reading was 1020 as expected. I also remember it tasting fantastic from the start, though it's been fascinating the way the flavour has developed month by month since first bottled.

Here's a tiny write up of my RIS experience so far for anyone who is interested.

Re: Coopers Imperial Stout
This thread has been an inspiration ! I've been planning on a stout brew for a little while now and after reading this (and the recipie on the coopers website) i think im going to have to bite the bullet and go for this one myself - rude not to
I have the perfect answer to tame the volcano too I have one of these on the way....
to be converted into an UBERfermerter for producing megabatches ( and imperials ) - at 60 l internal capacity, it can explode all it wants.
More to follow.....

Re: Coopers Imperial Stout
That seems amazing even if its just for a megabatch. With 2 stouts in there, you'd still have about 20l of headspace left over so the foam might not be a problem even for them! How much does one of them cost?

Re: Coopers Imperial Stout
£25 each, although postage is a little bit of a killer because its shipped volumetrically, not by mass - £10 (ironically, I could have ordered 4 of them to ship for the same money and at a bulk item discount price, but even I dont need 240l of fermentation space )
Same place can also do :
These cost £16
And these weigh in at £9

Re: Coopers Imperial Stout
30l isn't enough for mega stout. Where about are you based? I'm guessing its ampulla that you ordered from then?

Re: Coopers Imperial Stout
Yes Indeedy Im based down in the SE of england, near Hastings.
I did think about buying several of them and putting them out via ebay but as I said, volumetric postage sucks (there's a guy in the sale section posting 30l fermenters next day to the UK for £3.95 ! How, I dont know, i've not found a UK courier that will do that for less than £8.99+ VAT)

Re: Coopers Imperial Stout
This sounds like the dogs dangly bits....will def be giving it a go.
Re: Coopers Imperial Stout
I know it's only been in the bottle 2 months, which is nowhere near long enough for this style of beer but I couldn't resist having a sample bottle.
If I had to name it now, I'd call it "Liquorice Love"
It tastes fantastic. Now I'm putting it all away, and locking the door.

Re: Coopers Imperial Stout
My budget 10L RIS was only 4 weeks old when I tried a half pint taster last weekend, and I am surprised how drinklable it is already.
I have got it fairly well buried in my garage to prevent any slip-ups!

Re: Coopers Imperial Stout
I had one on Saturday. It tastes great. Thick, warm, nice tan head that lasts all the way down. Can't go wrong with it really!
Re: Coopers Imperial Stout
I was thinking about putting one of these on with following:
1 can Coopers Stout
1 can Coopers Dark Ale
0.5 DME & 1kg Dextrose
I know finished beer will be weaker
How do you think it would work out ?
