And I made another one!!! :D
The last brew had a slight hint of cheap Tesco Earl Grey, the Vanilla brew was Bloody Lovely Mun! :D
1 Can Coopers Stout
1Kg Med Spraymalt
500Gr Demerara Sugar
38 Rooibos Earl Grey Tea bags steeped for 15mins in 1Ltr boiling water (me and Nicola used 2 Tea bags for a `Taste Test`) BLM!
Tea bags bought from H & B, so very Posh! :D
SG @ 22deg 1052
Should be a nice little session ale.
Day 7 I will Dry Hop (Tea Bags) with 40 Rooibos Earl Grey Tea bags! :D
Mmmmmm, Don`t you just love Earl Grey!

WA

Right, after wading through the farm machinery in this post, I assume that this is the award winning recipe?

Has there been any revisions since the 2016 vintage?

Was this a 20L brew?

So many questions to answer.............in your own time WA

Cheers

Monkey,
That is the exact recipe.
Went down a Treat at The Homebrew Festival 2017.
Modifications so far have been a split brew, 10lts Asda Earl Grey, Ok taste but nothing like the Rooibos.
10Lts dry hopped with 100yr old French Bourbon Barrel Oak chips. Absolutely BLM! :D

WA

Yes, I will send one tomorrow.

Confusing me with oak chips and low quality supermarket tea bags lol.

Tosco have Twinings Earl Grey tea bags on offer, so will probably try them, as they are a decent quality.

I probably won't be adding the 500g of sugar, as I want a more session strength stout on tap, so do you think that I should reduce the tea bagging slightly?

Cheers

MB,
Sorry for the confusion.
The Brew with the Rooibos is what you want.
The other one is a different brew.

MB,
Up to you how many Tea Bags you want to add. I had 78 in total for 20Lts. (2017 version)
The one you tasted had 40 Tea Bags dry hopped. (2016 version).

Think I know where I'm going with this now.

Picking up some ingredients later, so I will get something going over the weekend.

I do like a bit of sugar in my tea............

Cheers

Sounds worth a go. I remember back in the days of CJJ Dennis, winemakers circles etc (showing my age) tea wine was a favourite brew along with Elderflower champagne and the other brews that grannies used to get woozy on. The reason being that tea has a lot of tannins that would go really well in a strong stout to balance out any sweetness.

Coopers Stout kit is also their premium offering, I know that they take a lot of pride in it and even recommend maturing it for a year or so - unlike other kit beers.
