LOL hard to do, however i gave a good few to my dad and he will probably have them for a year or so. I have decided to pick up another stout and do the same brew again adding oats etc. Just getting the bottles slowly together and the brew will be on
I have to admit it you were right, superb brew thank you

So I have decided to neck another, gawd knows how old this is now, it ages superbly. I will be doing this one again for sure, going by how good this one is im supping with its much mellowed flavours and deceiving strong after glow (its well over 7% ABV) this has got to be one the best beers I have brewed to date.
Only have around 8 bottles left....very dangerous beer

I have been a good boy with this one, plenty left and will probably stash them now for next winter.
Little update, cracked one and let it flatten, took the gravity and it sat at 1.015 so I was a little off, so its around 7.3% abv. Taste is superb, however as it mellows the booze comes thru a little and the bitterness subsides, so for sure a winter warmer all the Coopers taste notes are there however and its very moreish.
Only issue is its a little thin so next time oats are in order, it deserves to be thicker on the mouth feel.

bt,
Glad you are enjoying it!
If you are finding it a bit `thin`, you should have brewed to 18 - 20Lts.
Keep some for Christmas!

18L jeez man 1 bottle you are on yer back LOL
I will probably heed some of the advice i got and cook the oats (doubled up) and then reduce the liquor temp for a partial mash ( I see the grainfather i have good for this)
Honestly I think 7% abv will be the killer spot for this one, it has so much flavour its unreal just the booze can distract you from it.
Brew shed is also a priority over the spring into summer.

Just suppin one of these (just a half) its just over a year old now....mind bogglingly good.
If you do this, set it aside for 1 year, its well worth the wait, trust me

Sounds good bigtoe, it's funny how some brews are past their best at 6 months, and then others just keep getting better.bigtoe wrote:Just suppin one of these (just a half) its just over a year old now....mind bogglingly good.

A toucan Stout has a high bitterness, so time allows this to mellow nicely IMO.
Cheers

I reckon Coopers Stout will take anything you throw at it! I am trying to move into exteact now- I did a vanilla porter last weekend- but if I do another kit it will be youngs IPA next (the 100g of hops one, all about American pale ales for me at the moment, hoppier the better!)WalesAles wrote:Awesome, Heng,

For the Youngs IPA? whatever's in the kit mate- Simcoe, Centennial and Chinook I think. The vanilla porter was another extract kit, and the hops supplied there were 3 x Hop packs (1 – 37g Challenger, 2 – 32g Willamette, 3 – 21g Willamette)WalesAles wrote:Heng,

At some stage I'll probably do extract and make up recipes myself; if I get on okay with it, my Way to Amarillo was disappointing so I'll see how this porter works out. I fancy some galaxy hop use: nice and tropicall-y apparently!!
