Cant get the SG below1.012

Post by Brian T » Sun Oct 30, 2016 7:22 pm

Hi Folks
Hope someone can help its been a long time since i did any brewing but two weeks ago i put on a Coopers Canadioan Blone using SA 05US yeast because bothe the kit and yeast were out of date by 24months this has been on for 16days at 18degrees centigrade and still sitting at 1.012 checked twice in the last 2days and there appears to be no activity. At the same time i put on a Coopers English Bitter using SA04 Yeast and agin its down to 1.012 again 24 months old. The question is do i bottle this or is it for the white china telephone.
Any help or comments would be appricated

Regards

1012 doesn't sound too bad at all.

What was the OG?

Going by the "quarter" points rule, 1012 is about spot on for an OG of 1046 - 1050.

I would have a taste now and if it's OK then bottle.

The OG well that was another one of basic errors forgot to take them both brews had 1kg of dry spray malt and 300gms of brewing sugar in the past when i have done either of these kits using the Coopers yeast i have got down to 1.008. So just a wee bit nervous about bottling it at 1.012 as i certainly do not want bottle bombs been there done that never again thankyou SWMBO was very unimpressed.
On your advice i will bottle this tomorrow

Thanks again

1.012 sounds just fine to me, as long as your gravity has been constant over 2-3 days, you won't have any bottle bombs.
