Just finishing off the barrel now. It turned out much better than I thought and much better than the photograph :-) . My own conclusion after listening to you all is that the spray malt was not mixed properly but it turned out fine in the end.

Did you wash out the tin? I always rinse out the tin with boiling water so I extract the entire contents.
