40l brew in GF plus separate boiler

Post by clickhappy » Mon May 08, 2017 10:21 pm

Hi all, I'm looking to increase my brew length and I'm thinking of using my Grainfather to mash and sparge then pump out into the boiler. If I use as big as a grain bill as I can and perhaps mash twice or at least massive sparge volume to get good efficiency then I can dilute down in the boiler to get the required volume. After the boil I could transfer back into the Grainfather (gravity?) in 2 batches then pump it through the cooler into 2 fermenters.

Perhaps a double brew day is what I'm really after but I'm enjoying the 4.5 hour brew sessions and adding much time will stop me being able to fit in a brew after work.

Any thoughts? Happy to add more grain and loose efficiency if that's what is required.

I have double mashed for volume in the BM before and easily achieved a 50L batch after diluting in the fv, the process is outlined here and should be transferable to using a GF.

EDIT: just bear in mind that it will add time to your usual brew day.
