Grainfather Dimensions

Post by Mashman » Fri Nov 10, 2017 1:30 pm

If somebody with a grainfather could let me know the diameter at the top of the pot I would be very grateful.

TIA

google tells me that the lid for a t500 kettle is sized
The external diameter is 310mm the seal diameter is 290mm to 305mm and the internal hole size is 50mm diameter (approx figures).
http://www.lovebrewing.co.uk/t500-stainless-boiler-lid/
the t500 is a still (thats all i have to say on the subject jim ;) ) which uses an identical kettle base to the grainfather (minus pump standpipe etc..)

Fil

Thanks for that, I didn't realise the t500 was the same size as the Grainfather.

Just measured my grainfather. The external diameter of the grainfather body is 31cm.
There are some clips for if you are distilling which are not removable. With these clipped in (but you cannot then remove the malt pipe) the max external diameter is approx 33.5cm.

With the clips undone so the malt pipe can be removed this takes the max diameter to approx 34.5cm

I was just curious, the lid with the 50mm hole was looking useful, wondered if it would fit a 35 litre pot I had, unfortunately it is a tad to small, still, never mind.......
