Richard,

It did depend what firmware version you are on presently as to how mucj change you will see.

Tbh they are normally bug fixes and not features.
It is of course entirely up to you, but my take would be.. "If it isn't broke don't fix it (Until it is)"

I didn’t realise they sold the cable to end users now.
They pin out has already been figured out btw.
Yes BrewUK told me yesterday they could pre-order for me on there next Speidel shipment
Have not yet got the link from them to pre-order though.
When you have the cable and have done the update can you report back on how you did it and what differences you see, for example, do you get some of the options that the newer versions have like delayed starts and more hop additions?
And would you lend me the cable, for a fee? :D
BrewUK did not get back to me with a pre-order link, I may just make my own cable ,will keep you posted on how that goes.🍻
Falling apart together nicley🍻

Have you ever had condensation?
Yes since day 1 but has never been an issue for me and when it was in bits the other day, there were no signs of water ingress on the board.

The firmware updates bought a lot of new features, much more than bug fixes.

From what version to what version? The latter ones from memory were not so much brewing (machine) updates as connectivity/my spiedel type stuff & fixes.

No matter. Let's hope it is fixable.

After 2 dummie overnights at the weekend nothing skipped.
So it looks like a new battery has done something for now.
BrewUK never come back to me regarding the cable so am going to make my own will post up some pics when that happens.
Not sure I really should update it though now. if it it aint broke and all that.🍻

I had my BM from one of the fairly early versions of the firmware so have seen quite a few changes. Unfortunately Speidel have never kept a rolling changelog (nor on the Braumeister forum) so my memory is a little fuzzy but I think it includes the following (not an exhaustive list though and I’m not at home to check things!):

- more hop addition timings
- better representation of the timings
- ability to calibrate the thermometer probe
- ability to set the ‘boil temperature’ (up to 103C)
- regulation of the boil (continuous or PID style?)
- set automatic start (this is really a killer feature to shorten the brew day - I have it ready to mash in when I wake up)
- WiFi control/viewing via browser
- sync/create recipes via website (you can also just upload an xml and then have it synch)

The last couple require the WiFi module. I’m sure there are more too but cannot remember them as they have been in place for ages. Updating via an available cable probably makes much more sense for a lot of people, especially with the ludicrous price the WiFi unit is now being sold for.

That’s good news, hopefully it was a very cheap fix.

Have now made a cable, will hold off updating if I don't need to though.
Will check that it communicates with the BM.
