Wine bottle crates

Post by bquiggerz » Thu Sep 03, 2015 2:24 pm

Hello everyone,

I really enjoy the stackability of my milk crates for beer bottles and that got me thinking. Are there are wine bottle sized milk crates out there?

Thanks,

Ben.

Not sure about the website but these crates hold 12 wine bottles, they nest inside each other when empty.

Is this plan made by you lord? If so can you take a couple of pics of the real things at different angles?

Hi bquiggerz
Pics as requested, I've cut the tops off the vertical end pieces since my original pics. These were there to interlock the crates when stacked. If you were to make your own I'd recommend keeping them but slant the end pieces outward by a few millimetres when you assemble, I had them exactly vertical and they were just too tight fitting to the bases to stack and remove easily

If there's any other view you want a closer look at let me know

That's perfect, you could have just used a power sander and took a mill or two from the top of the vertical end piece. I love the idea of upcycling/reusing everything we can, that way less energy is used then it would have to recycle the product.

Well, after spending ages looking for pallets and asking builders I have finally found out why there's non going. The local council is trying to reduce industrial and building waste. So pallets have to be reused or you face a fine. I'm going to buy some ply and make some similar to yours but more suitable to the fact I'll be using large boards instead of planks.

I bought six of these - they accepted an offer of £45 and at that price, you probably couldn't but the wood to make your own.
