Thanks brewedout it seems a shame to throw out what could have been three delicious gallons. Oh well I've stepped up my sanitation game now. Everything gets a starsan spray, surfaces, myself, sink, and anything else that can get wet

Blueberry wine, one of my favourites when not infected but it wasn't even remotely drinkable

I've never thought to make wine from blueberries. I'll have to try it some time.

It's a beautiful wine. Here's a picture of a bottle from not that long ago. This is made from shop bought juice though, but the product should be even better if made from fresh berries.

I know it's a daft question, but how do you know it's infected? I'll be honest, my sanitation is a bit lax and I don't think I've ever had a problem. So if I did have an infected batch, how would I know? Any hints?

It depends on the type of infection. Smell is your first tell tail. Then its look and finally taste. but never just throw a batch out. You can ask Wales ales about that. Give it a taste and if it tastes fine, it probably is.

It's one litre RGJ and two litres blueberry from asda. Chosen by you bottles 3 for £3. Then sugar, citric acid, etc. Let me know if you want me to get my brew log out and get it precisely for you.
Here's a picture of a finished bottle for your viewing pleasure.

RGJ X 4L
Blueberry juice X 5l(6 would be better with one less RGJ)
Sugar 2kg
Citric acid 3 teaspoons
Yeast nutrient 3 teaspoon
Pectolase 3 teaspoons
Yeast 3 teaspoons
I use Young's super wine yeast.
Top up too 3 gallons.
You can't divide everything by the to get one gallon obviously.

Asda chosen by you, if you go to the fridges its bottles 3 for £3 that's also where the RGJ comes from
