Anyone used liquid yeast in wine?

Post by bobsbeer » Mon May 29, 2017 10:44 am

I have never tried any of the liquid yeasts now available for wine, and wondered if anyone has tried them. They are a tad expensive at £7 ish, so wondered if they made a difference to the finished wine. I'm sure like beer yeast, dried strains lose a lot of their characteristics in the production process, so is it worth trying one?

I only found out recently that there were so many liquid wine yeasts available and have yet to try any, but I will at some point in the future (once I've tried liquid beer yeast which I really should get to grips with!)

£7 is not too bad if you can build a starter to make 5 gallon batches with. I wonder if the yeast will be re-usable for another batch seeing as the wine will be sat on it for a while?

Please let us know if you give it a try.
