Imagine the response a post saying I've just bought a sack of malt what do I do with it would receive.
keith,
I am going to ask that question in the `All Grain Brewing` (Posh People) thread right now! :D

This is a serious dilemma! Just what is the diplomatic protocol for taking wine with a group of cucumbers?

Are you sure you don't live in Tunbridge Wells?

This seems awfully suspicious...

.....has anyone had any experiences with brewing cucumbers???
I have a friend that regularly uses cucumber in his wine (carrot and cucumber is one of his faves) and he reckons it is similar to watermelon. I've yet to try it (drinking or making) so I'm intrigued to see how your wine turns out, keep us posted! I'm about to make some marrow wine. I made a batch a few years back and it is nicer than it sounds, very light and refreshing.

Excellent. Now I understand where the (totally mad) 'what do I do with a sack of malt thread' came from.

can anyone suggest how to brew for them please?

This is a bit pedantic, but there's no 'S' on the end of Tesco.

You can make wine out of almost anything, I remember a neighbour made oak leaf wine once. That tasted like crap too.

I've tasted a couple of oak leaf wines (my dad made it years ago and Cairn O Mohr do a spring oak leaf) and they are delicious, though I believe that the leaves can be bitter from tannin if picked too late in the year. It's another on my 'to do' list but unfortunately there aren't many trees round here.

ahh maybe he used too big a leaf, they have to be a certain size or smaller, and then it still maybe a wine not to your liking.

ive never done it but ive read about it and that's iirc.

I think I would try oak leaf wine before I tried cucumber. Even the wife looked at me like I had 2 heads when I blurted out cucumber wine in shock.

There isn't an s Tesco. But the writer is refering to a store belonging to Tesco so it should have possesive apostrophe
followed by an s. And that's not pedantic.
