where to buy cider apples in Southeast

Post by drmick » Fri Jul 31, 2015 12:12 pm

I've made cider three out the last four years using cookers and eaters collected from a variety of friends and relatives apple trees. This year would like to try and do a batch using proper cider apples - anyone know where they can be had in the southeast - not planning a huge batch maybe 25L with cider apples

I'd guess your best option is to find someone who grows suitable apples as a hobby and see if they're willing to let you have some. There's a UK Cider Google group where you might be able to get some help.

Check and see if there are local apple farmers who might be willing to let you walk the orchards and pick up windfalls (hopefully for free, but more likely for a small fee) - I know there are a few farms down my neck of the woods.
