First Turbo Cider this year

Put on this years first turbo Cider

20l morrisons apple juice
4 bramley apples cut up roughly
1 stem of fresh ginger peeled and chopped
2 X 1llb jars honey
Big dollop of tomato purée
1 litre Yorkshire gold tea stewed with 6 bags.

Looking forward to this one
Fermenting: Wilkos Cider
Drinking: Wilkos Hoppy Copper (very nice)

What does the Tomato purée do to the cider?
Never seen that in a recipe before.
Are you drinking this yet? :D

It's a substitute for yeast nutrient.
Probably costs more...

Yep, it's a nutrient for the yeast, WA. Old Distillers trick for the mash. As OB says tho. it's probably dearer to buy than dedicated yeast nutrient -

Is yeast nutrient needed? I've never had a problem with cider fermentation just by adding yeast to juice.

Reccomend - first time I used it, it saved nearly a week on the ferment !

Interesting, my cider does seem to take a while to ferment. I'm lazy though so as long as it doesn't affect taste I'm good without it :)
