Bottle bombs

Post by jaquiss2005 » Sat May 05, 2018 5:17 pm

Make some cider last autumn and one of the varieties appears not to have finished fermenting when I bottled it. Was like Vesuvius when I took the cap off and lost half the bottle before I got glass in place for the second half!

Any way of stopping this happening with remaining bottles?

You could chill the bottles and slowly uncap them in the sink, then cap them again with new caps.

Protective eyewear strongly advised in case any of the bottles have a flaw and go bang
