Cherry Bakewell Cider by Robsta

Ingredients:
12 litres of Lidl Apple Juice 12x 62p
6 Litres of Lidl Still water 3 x 60p
2 Punnets of Cherries 2x2.40
2 bottles of sparkling cherry water 2 x 85p
1 Tumbler of Apple JD free from me bar
1 bottle of Lidl Amaretto 8.99
Total cost 24.87 i got 59 bottles out of it cost per 330ml bottle 45pence
I always use Bread Yeast/ but you can use Any cider yeast
How to make:
Empty all the Apple juice into your 30 litre container top of with the Still water and the 2 punnets of cherries and 1 tumbler/or Cup of Apple JD.
Then add the yeast and put the lid on with Airlock The JD will help eat the sugars up quicker and make it a good strong Cider.
I’m talking 11 to 15% cider not for the faint hearted but you can weaken it down with more water.
Once it stops bubbling move to secondary container and then add a further 2 litres cherry water and 1 bottle of Amaretto and the lid and airlock and leave for another week
Once done you can drink it straight from secondary container or you can bottle it up make sure it has fully stopped fermenting or it can blow the tops of your bottles.

This is too mourish and great summer drink if you don't like the idea of adding spirits to your ciders you can use Almond Syrup but make sure you add that to the first not the secondary as its more sugars

That almond flavour from the amaretto is going to make that taste good.

I have to say I find that a curious use of the JD.

Wasn't expecting you to pop it in the fermenter, or have I missed something?

yeah if you add any spirit while its fermenting i read something about it speeding up the yeast its like giving cocaine to a bear

I personally don't go for that, but it is easy to test.

Had you thought of a bit more sugar to get the % up and use monin syrup?

With fortified wines alcohol is added for two reasons. To increase the strength and kill the yeast once the desired sweetness is reached.

Agreed. But that doesn't appear to be the case here? I believe he is saying that the fermentation is speeded up by having the JD added. Personally I think there might be better ways to buffer the pH 🤔

Lol so many questions Wales Ale yeah im all good bro miss the old festival days and competitions.

Fro those asking about jd and amaretto costs sorry have my own bar and only use what friends and family have brought me and just sitting on the shelf wasting away.

But if you don't have a lidl around then yes it can be costly that's why i advised you can use the syrups instead i like my ciders with a kick.

i always say the word fermenting when you add the yeast and that only from my ale making

Apple Jack Daniels buddy i had four bottles brought at xmas
The Cherries were boiiled and pitted and then put through a smoothie maker
it is dangerous it tastes like pop but has a kick like a mule

Wales Ale you remember the toffee apple one i made for the Leicester festival 10 litres dissapeared in bout 15 minutes which got me 1st place in the competition
