Spanish Orange Blossom Honey

Post by floydmeddler » Sun Sep 04, 2016 11:11 am

Hey mead heads,

I'd like to make some orange blossom honey mead and was thinking about buying from here:

In your opinion, is this a fair price? I can pick up from them so don't need to worry about postage.

They do have this too which is much cheaper. Not sure if it would make decent mead though... Maybe i'm wrong? Always thought that orange blossom honey was the bee's knees (sorry)

Are there cheaper online places?

Any help welcomed. I've only made mead once and used Rowse honey.

Thanks in advance.

They should both make pretty good mead.
I'm just here for the beer.

£23.80 for 3.17 kg of orange blossom honey is (in US terms) $29.66 for 7 lbs, i.e $4.24/lb.

And it's imported.

By contrast, I recently paid $46 for 12 lbs of Florida orange blossom honey from 50 miles away. That's $3.83/lb.

Given that the honey you're buying is imported, I'd say you were getting a super deal.

We have 7% sales tax, over and above the price. Do you have to pay 20% VAT over and above, or is honey exempt, being food?
Secondary FV: As yet unnamed Weizenbock ~7%
Bulk aging: Soodo: Grocery store grape juice wine experiment.
Drinking: Mostly Canadian whisky until I start brewing again.
