I think that Styrian Goldings would work well in this style of beer.

I'm all for a MO base with a handful of Munich and wheat.
Hopped with a little, say10g, of a high alpha British hop for bittering (I like admiral). Then load the hops late to about 32 IBU. First gold is a winner for me.
And keep the whole thing around 4.2% abv.
Lovely summer marmalades hmmmm

OK, I'm going to assume everyone with an opinion has given it, and wind up the thread now.

I'll go through it and try to distil a recipe out of it that will hopefully follow the majority thinking - though with so many diverse opinions on what the recipe should be it'll be impossible to please everyone.

It may take a little while, but I'll try and post something by Monday. 8)

Good luck with that one Jim, but I'm sure that you will come up with the right recipe :)

Cheers

I like the idea and will brew whatever the final recipe is, my only suggestion is to leave it up to each brewer to decide which yeast he or she may want to use.

OK, this is my current thinking:

85% Marris Otter, 10% Pale Crystal, 5% Torrified Wheat. 4.5% ABV.

Bittering = Challenger; Late = Goldings & Cascade. 35 IBU.

Own choice yeast but Nottingham recommended.

OK! :)

Next thing we need to do is set a date. I know we were initially talking June, but given the type of beer perhaps May would be better? I'll put a date poll up later on when I get the chance.

Sounds good and I've got everything except the Challenger, but they're cheap as chips and plentiful anyway. £4 this afternoon and I'm ready to go..!!

Yup. I'm in too. May definitely sounds like a good plan to me.

Definitely going to try and brew this one. May or June doesn't matter.

What ratio for hops?
