I had it in my head that it was Nottingham too, but couldn't find anything on here about it.

I have got some Wilko Gervin (Nottingham), so will probably use this anyway.

Cheers

It was at one of the festivals and I'm fairly sure someone asked Rob the question and he said it wasn't Nottingham. But a few drinks had been taken. Wilkos yeast is Nottingham I believe.

Rob has mentioned it here or the craft forum as well.

He might just be saying it's not re-packaged Danstar Nottingham. For obvious reasons.

Jim, any views on a water profile for the brew?

Maltmiller describes NBS as ...

Very neutral English style ale yeast that lets both the hops and malts shine through with very little fruity ester production especially at lower temperatures. Quick fermentation and very floculent, ideal for bottle conditioning. Each pack is vac sealed in foil for freshness. Temperature range 15'-20'c. Will ferment higher but with more ester production

I reckon any water profile that's OK for a bitter will be fine for this one.

I'll go for the standard one then, that should work fine. Got my Wilko Nottingham so that's everything ready.

I'm probably going to use GW's Sweet Pale Ale profile.

How long should the mash be? I'm doing mine today as I won't be around on the "official" weekend due to work.

I remember him saying that it's not Nottingham but it is very similar. Of course he might be lying, but why bother? More people would probably buy it if they thought it was.

I went for the halfway house in the end, 75 minutes (had to pop down Tescos).

I'm not sure how it went, my volumes were all wrong and my gravities didn't match. But I transferred the result into the FV and pitched my yeast. It's fingers crossed now as I'm already 3000 miles away and won't be back until the middle of June!

I used the NBS ale yeast in a split guinness clone brew done along with a local brewery yeast, it finished quicker but took longer to carb up, but overall was clean and produced a slightly smoother version than the local brewery yeast.

It doesn't seem like wilko's gervin (nottingham ?)to me.
