Staropramen recipe?

Post by kisslikeether » Mon Nov 28, 2016 9:39 pm

Always enjoyed Staropramen but it looks like is now being brewed somewhere different and/or to a new recipe.

Has anyone got a good recipe for how it used to taste? Thanks in advance...

I don't have any "clone" recipes but a Bohemian style lager would be pretty much do it.

ABV of around 5%.
IBU of 35 - 40 using Saaz hops.

This came up on a Beersmith search:

4.50 kg Pilsner (4.5 EBC) Grain 1 93.0 %
0.34 kg Cara-Pils/Dextrine (3.9 EBC) Grain 2 7.0 %
25.00 g Saaz [4.00 %] - Boil 60.0 min Hop 3 11.7 IBUs
49.00 g Saaz [4.00 %] - Boil 30.0 min Hop 4 17.6 IBUs
37.00 g Saaz [4.00 %] - Boil 10.0 min Hop 5 6.3 IBUs
37.00 g Saaz [4.00 %] - Boil 0.0 min Hop 6 0.0 IBUs
1.0 pkg Saflager Lager (DCL/Fermentis #W-34/70) [50.28 ml] Yeast 7 -

I would look into some of the liquid yeasts out there as there are a few Czech ones you can use. Maybe look to add some melanoidin malt up to 5% as I think this is a decoction mashed beer?
