Rye IPA

Post by Peatbogbrewer » Sat Feb 25, 2017 5:43 pm

Hiya,

Popped to LHBS to get grist for a rye IPA. I came away with maris otter, carared and crystal rye. No rye malt or chocolate rye (gutted). Do i really need rye malt? can i substitute with flaked rye? What a dilemma.......wotcha reckon?

MO and crystal rye will be fine. You won''t need much to get a nice rye taste either. About 5%.

Nice one, i was going to offset rye malt with normal crystal, i suppose the the crystal rye will provide the sweetness to go with peppery rye?
