Calling any Milk Stout recipes.....

Post by Monkeybrew » Sat Jul 29, 2017 7:16 am

I am planning to brew a milk stout for Christmas, something in the region of 4.5-5.0%.

There seems to be quite a variety of different ingredients used in this style, so I would appreciate any tried and tested recipe ideas please.

Cheers

I used blackprinz malt instead of roast barley in my last milk stout and was very happy with the results.
I'm just here for the beer.

Brew dogs beatnik milk stout I'll get the recipe number I also did an ag kit on malt Miller so you can just click n order.
The coconut came from Holland n barret.

But please do take 8 330 ml out and prime with 11ml of chambers in each bottle instead of priming sugar

Chambord sorry glasses steamed up. 11ml in 330ml bottle gives a fizzy beer probs could knock it down to 9ml
Or 15ml in 500ml tho it's dangerous so small bottles are best

This is quite sweet, but you could optionally add other flavourings - hazelnut, chocolate etc to it at bottling and it would work as a great base for that.

5% ABV, 1.057 OG, 1.018 FG, 29 IBU

77% Maris otter
7% black malt
5% crystal
3.5% pale chocolate
7.5% lactose

29 IBU of a neutral bittering hop for a 60 minute boil - I use Magnum - and balance water profile towards chloride.

WLP028 to ferment

Prime to 2 volumes of CO2.
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.
