Silicone Corny Keg O-Rings
Silicone Corny Keg O-Rings
Hi chaps & chapeses, I've bought some replacement silicone o-rings for my kegs from a company called Polymax and thought I'd share. I had some black nitrile poppet o-rings so didn't buy any of those, but below is the link for them. Order on a Friday and you'll get free delivery on orders less than £15, but the minimum order value is £10- I simply spit my order in two! Delivery was quick, I had one lot delivered on Monday and the the lid o-rings came on Tuesday.

Re: Silicone Corny Keg O-Rings
I'd be interested to hear how folk get on with these. The O-rings are often recommended for sealing cornies at low pressures because the silicone O-rings are softer. But these (and other silicone O-rings) are speced with a hardness of 70 whatsits, the same hardness as nitrile ones.
The links seem broken. I get to the site but only to get a "page not found".

Re: Silicone Corny Keg O-Rings
I've been using them with no problems at all for the last few years, try https://www.polymax.co.uk/o-rings/rubbe ... e-o-rings/ and search for the sizes above.

Re: Silicone Corny Keg O-Rings
There are now fatter, softer rubber o rings available on eBay. I’ve switched all my kegs over to those and they seal up a treat.

Ach, I can be a dummy sometimes. Speed-reading the past posts completely skipped your post about "404'd". Thanks.JabbA wrote: ↑Thu Apr 26, 2018 4:55 pm... try https://www.polymax.co.uk/o-rings/rubbe ... e-o-rings/ and search for the sizes above. ...
Beware the "poppet" O-rings, Poppet designs seem to be different for each Corny you see. Some poppets will need BS007 size. I caved in and switched all my poppets to "universal" jobbies.

Re: Silicone Corny Keg O-Rings
There are?
Tell me! Can you narrow it down a bit closer than just "EBay". Thanks very much.
I've only one (out of 12) that stubornly refuses to seal - fatter soft O-rings sound just the ticket.

Re: Silicone Corny Keg O-Rings
Something that was mentioned by an Aussie seller of corny kegs was that, due to the oxygen permeability of silicon, you may want to be wary of aging beers in those kegs that have had silicone replacement o rings for the lids, for those it might be better to keep hold of nitrile o rings and use them for those particular beers.
Re: Silicone Corny Keg O-Rings
Ha ha. I'm actually doing just that with oak chunks in the kegs, trying to replicate aging in an oak firkin. I purposefully didn't go for a 20L oak barrel as the surface area to volume is wrong and allows far too much oxygen pickup compared to a firkin. The news that I may still get some oxygen ingress using a Corny with silicone seal is actually music to my ears, a bit of oxygen never hurt the aging process.
