Hozelock type fittings on Immersion Cooler - picture

Seen a few posts on these hozelock type fittings over the last few weeks, so thought I'd post my own latest (if modest) IC alterations in case they're of use to anyone. Simple, but it kind of makes things nicer to set up and take apart (see bottom of photo):


The connections are fitted by combining these tap connectors with these 15mm x 3/4" male couplers, and then I've got these quick connects on the hoses (I think those links are to the right sizes, anyway!).

I've a similar tap connector screwed onto my outside tap, so its now all just 'clunk click' and everything's connected

Yes, the three 'legs' sit on rim of the boiler and support the coil nicely. The dead ends don't need to be flushed/cleaned through (as its just the inside of the IC), so its an easy way to support it.

Thanks! Yes, the fittings are simple things but they make life easier, good value really.

I have a vague plan in mind to mount a small board on the three legs too, using three pipe clips, and mount a 12v geared motor on it connected to a stirer of some sort.

Looks nice Kev. I was thinking of a similar design but my set-up would render an IC as useless as there wouldn't be enough pipe submersed.

I also had similar vague plans a while back utilising a windscreen wiper motor, I reckoned it would have the torque and speed required

Thats an idea Scooby - I used an old Lucas one for something else years ago and it did indeed have quite a bit of 'umph'. That one had a stumpy conical spline as an output though, which wasn't easy to fix another shaft to - though I guess you could retain some of the wiper linkage and use it to push/pull a plunger shaped paddle or oscillate something back and forth instead ..

Interesting idea!
