Apologies well in advance...

Post by notassuch » Wed May 23, 2007 4:44 pm

Okay, so I swore to myself I wouldn't start a thread like this, but...

Look what Santa Norm brought me

Incidentally, the cylinder was postage-free, the corny had a postage charge.
Norm packaged the two together and gave me £5 refund on P&P. What a sterling bloke!!

PS. Wow, that photo makes it look like I've vacuumed my flat in the last month.
Who says the camera never lies?

It’s a slippery slope when you get your first corny, I just ordered my second to day! :D

8) I ordered my second today as well. It definitely is a slippery slope!

I'm kidding myself that two will be enough

They will. I found someone very near me after about 10 mins of looking on t'internet. £3 for a refill.

EDIT - actually 2 places, but going with the cheapest the other wanted FIVE POUNDS   I might be luckly though living near Norm, when I called them they both said "you one of Norms?"

Guess what, I also succumbed to temptation this week and ordered 4 converted kegs from Norm! 8) I hope they are as shiny as yours is notassuch.

I mentioned that I'd been put on to him by JHBF members and I quote:

I GET A LOT OF LEADS THROUGH JIMS HOME BREW EMPORIUM ,
IT MAINLY STARTED WITH ANDY WHITWORTH THEN IT SNOWBALLED

Guys am I likely to have to do much work with the kegs I get from Norm in your experience?

I'm all primed (oh  ) for a first brew in ages this weekend and I'm hoping to step up to a 36 litre batch size and fill 2 kegs. If Norm ships them tomorrow, I'll probably get them by the middle of next week.

In my experience you may need to replace all the seals (and potentially poppets) and give the inside a very good clean - soda crystals + scrubby + wipe down with kitchen paper.

Unless Norm fits new seals these days ?

Hmm - I've now got 7 Cornies  all from Norm :D
I also bought my gas management board and CO2 bottle from him too although I had to go and pick up my bottle and I thought you could not post compressed gas (unless your one was empty?).

Good to know that I should be able to get my Norm bottle refilled - I must admit that had been of concern when reading about other peoples experiences....
