Is anyone using the Sansone drums as fv's? I'm wondering what the build quality is like. Ta!

Knowing what the quality of the olive oil conicals are like I wouldn't be prepared to risk it.

They might be fine, but for my personal preference I would side with a plain Bergland pot, less than 1/2 the price for starters.

Would be interested if you go ahead with the olive oil tanks.
Hair of the dog, bacon, butty.
Hops, cider pips & hello.

Were the conicals by Sansone? Their website makes me think they know what their doing (although it looks fairly new - there's still some lorem ipsum text on the front page #-o ). Still a bit of a gamble - hoping someone will chime in.

I had these in mind as I had read that the thermoboxes can come with some pitting on the welds?

They're cheaper if you buy them direct from Italy -- here. The 25ltr model costs £62 plus postage. I got itchy fingers the other night and bought one. Now I'm waiting for the postage quote. Needless to say I'll make a full report when it arrives; it's possible I've just have acquired a very expensive sanitation bucket -- but a damned stylish one. 8)

No idea who actually manufactured the conical, although the pattern swirl on the outside of some of their pots looks very familiar.

Looks like you be finding out very soon from Hogarth of what it actually looks like inside.

Yeah, mine has. And a thermobox has the added disadvantage that you can't even stick it on the stove and give it a boil, which at least you can do with the cheap French stockpots.

I use several of them for storing olive oil in. The ones I have are 50 and 200 litre sizes and have seams running around the top and bottom that would harbour nasties so I wouldn't recommend using for fermenting.

For beer I use these for fermenting vessels...http://www.ebay.it/itm/VESTE-DAMIGIANA- ... 4855a12d62

For wine I use 54 litre versions of them.
