Tallys Brewery in progress.
Well after seeing SteveD's topic a week or two ago decided the best place to make mine was in the garage too.
Got all the old kitchen units together, sourced some long worktops (not the best but will do)
Added a sink and plumbed in the hot and cold water supply and added waste to run the lenght of the garage (thats 6.5 meters long lol)
Pics of AS IS yesterday whilst making a brew.
As you can see still a bit cluttered in there at the mo but need to find home for tools as well lol.

After reading about the shiny factor and cornies i ordered a couple to try out.
Of course needed to source gas and regs too then. Thanks to Norm ordered and got these
Decided on Monday too that there wasnt enough light above the sink so knocked together a solution.

Re: Tallys Brewery in progress.
Ive not updated this in months and though i should.
After starting this mad crazy lark early this year soon realised
1. There is no such thing as to make too much beer.
2. My kit was too small.
3. Shiny is better.
Im now the proud owner of 5 x 18ltr Cornies and 2 x 9Ltr Mini Cornies (bless them).
I decided the plastic 23Ltr boiler wasnt suitable for me anymore and wanted some bigger kit. Fortunately i went on a vist to a local Micro Brewery in Louth and got on quite well with the owner. He told me his original micro brewery kit was up for sale. Of course i dove straight in.
I went and bought the gear which really is only 4 stainless steel beer kegs. The HLT and boiler only had one element sockt in them and as the barrels are bowed, these pointed upwards a tad. On the boiler these came above the water level at 20Ltrs (if i want to brew that amount) so needed re doing. So i bought a new socket (£35 ) and finally this weekend got my mate to cut it in half and re weld both halves onto the Boiler so i can stick two elements in it.
Also to power these ive had to completely re wire the garage... First i changed the house consumer unit to a new one. Took the meter tails to a junction box, and fed 2 tails to the house consumer unit and 2 tails to a new small consumer unit. From the small CU i then ran 16mm Armoured cable out the house and into the garage where i mounted the old house CU onto the end of this 16mm armoured. I now have enough juice to power the micro brewery.
Im now waiting on some old kitchen units to make an island in the garage and setup and stage the HLT, Mash Tun, Boiler and FV. Im trying to remove all Brass and Copper fixings from the kegs and move over to Stainless as i go. Still looking at what is best to insulate them with currently... either camping mats, or loft insulation with the foil insulation over the top of the wool. then tape it on to seal.
Thats it so far.

Nice one!
I love the "entire kitchen in the garage" approach. If the Mrs is going to kick you out of the kitchen, it's only fair for you to have your own kitchen....in the garage!

Re: Tallys Brewery in progress.
The Latest on the Black Lab Ale Brewery..
Finally started to piece it all together during the last week.
First of all cleared a space in the garage for where i was building it.
I was suppose to be getting hold of a load of Kitchen Units to build an island to stage it all. But didnt happen....
Fortunately i have Loooooooads of old wood lying about so decided to build something up.
Start with the frame.
Then moved inside to build it up.
Covered the top of it with chipboard and lobbed all the kegs on top.
Put in a centre piece of wood so i can run the electrics and pipe feeds along it.
Raised the Mash Tun so i can gravity feed into the boiler.
And made some very basic frames to raise the kegs off the deck so i can get the pipes run underneath.

Nice Work Tally,
Looks like you have the same "why use small wood when we can use BIG wood" approach that I have!
"Building breweries for our children's children..."
