Armaflex F1 Keg

Post by GARYSMIFF » Mon Feb 09, 2009 12:39 am

Just had to post my F1 racing wheel Armaflex Turbo Keg, FYI I had just started a mash temp was 66, I then got a call asking me to go visit my Father in hospital as he has just come out of a Knee op, 2 and a half hours later the temp was 64.
The Keg was in my house but in a 18 degree room.
Not bad
The Armaflex is 25mm and it has a double layer ( rolled over at the top of the keg) so 50mm, the base also has a double skin and the lid is only at the moment 25mm, working on that very soon.
The Armaflex stops 2cm from the base.
Beer Towels are temp handles.

Expensive stuff Armaflex but really effective. I use a 19mm layer on my conical (yes, I killed the shiny  )

There were a few moments when I actually believed it was an F1 tyre

People FYI

25MM thick ARMAFLEX SHEET IN 1000MM X 4000 SHEET AROUND £50

But you would only need

500mm x 127mm ish to do a single skin keg, I have seen it in 500mm x 2000mm sheets that would leave you enough to to a base and lid, but for around £35, I thought for the extra money you get 4 times the amount.

Hope to be making a fermenter Bucket "glove" soon with what I have over.

TIP: cover the keg in a black sack and talc, it slips over better and also in the hope that is removed with ease when I need to drill more holes in the keg.

SMIFFY :D

Any clues as to where to find this, and/or, if you've done yours already do you have any left over?
