Submerge Bottles in Water
Submerge Bottles in Water
Hi, I heard it is best to store bottles in cool temperatures during carbonation. Fridge is too cold, atomosphere too warm.
So I thought of an idea of filling a container with water (to half the size of the bottles) and keeping it in the shade. The water should stay colder than the air temperature. My pond gave me this idea.
Good idea?

Shandy sneaks round your house with a fishing net and wearing a balaclava.

sensibly...
You could wrap a wet towel around the bucket with your bottles in, and the evaporation cooling should make it cooler than just a bucket of water which will eventually balance the temperature inside with that of outside, albeit with a more stable temperature range.

Thanks! However I ain't got 11 towels though
Decided to try it. Bottled 6 days ago, Submerged today.
Will keep record of the water temp daily, as well the temperature inside the shed for comparison.
Cheers
(water level just under halfway of the beer)

Hi Kev
Forgot to keep readings.
It is 26c inside shed right now, and the water temp is 17c.
Seems to be working nicely

Sorry to pee on your bonfire delta9 but during carbonation its important that the bottles aren't too cold. You need the warmth for the residual yeast to work on the priming sugar to achieve the carbonation. The SOP is… bottling day>2 weeks at room temp>store cool.delta9 wrote:Hi, I heard it is best to store bottles in cool temperatures during carbonation. Fridge is too cold, atomosphere too warm.
