Bought a Nordic Bain Marie a few months ago now, cut a 20mm hole with a Q-Max cutter but I'm having real difficulty fitting a 1/2" take off for my ball valve.
I've tried all manner of O rings, thread runners, couplers but I still can't get them to seat correctly on the inner curve. Any pressure I put on the threads to tighten up the fitting just result in the outer skin denting & no change on the inner surface.
I've fitted a ball valve and kettle element on a stock pot but can't seem to crack this double skin jobbie

Re: Tap fitting issues on a Nordic Bain Marie
Try to use a sleeve over the thread that will tighten on the inner skin but allows for a small amount of pressure to the outer skin to improve stability of the valve.
Imagine that it would be an incredibly thick washer that was exactly the same size as the outer skin but bigger than the inner skin hole.

Re: Tap fitting issues on a Nordic Bain Marie
Gents,
Thanks for the pointers, I've left the offending item in the shed for the next couple of weeks, as the weather is too nice to be stressing over how to get a tap on it
Having said that, I have been playing with some big washers and even curving a couple of washers, that fit the inner curve perfectly. I've also got a few bit on order, so between your posts & my bag of goodies, I should be going places very soon
So thanks again & watch this space.

Re: Tap fitting issues on a Nordic Bain Marie
As Chris said, you need to cut a bigger hole on the outer skin. This hole should be big enough to allow the tool required to tighten your tank connector to pass through it. You can just about see what i mean here:
It is best to cut the big hole first though
