Can anyone help?
I’m trying to connect a beer engine to a cask, I bought the hoses and connectors from barley bottom and the tap from A1barstuff but I’ve got it wrong somewhere.
So far
Beer engine to ½†PVC plastic pipe ---- no problem pushes on fine
½†PVC plastic pipe to 3/8†MDP plastic pipe using john guest ½†reducer to 3/8†-- no problem
I was then expecting the 3/8†MDP plastic pipe to push on to the barb on the cask tap shown here:
http://www.a1barstuff.co.uk/detail.asp?ProdID=660
but the pipe is way too small. The ½†pipe is way too big to go on directly so I’m assuming that there is another size pipe available the question is where from and how do you connect it to the ½â€.
Thanks

Re: connecting cask to beer engine
the 1/2" is way too big, certainly too big for a jubilee clip to work, its difficult for me to measure accurately but hear goes
the 1/2" has an i.d. of about 12mm and od of about 18 mm,
the 3/8" has an i.d. of about 6.5mm and an od of about 9.5mm
the connection on the beer engine is a white barb about 12.5mm o.d. (so the 1/2" fits)
the connection on the cask tap is about 9.5mm o.d. so the 3/8" doesn't fit
Phew thanks for persevering this far! 9.5mm is about 3/8" so i'm guessing that i need 3/8" i.d. (but i got 3/8" o.d.)
If i'm right any ideas where can i get small lenths of 3/8" i.d. tube and any ideas on how to connect it to 1/2" i.d. tube?

Re: connecting cask to beer engine
Have you tried syphon tubing, inside dia about 3/8.I've used this to connect a cask breather to a cask spigot form the same place (A1 Barstuff).

Re: connecting cask to beer engine
looking at my set up I just use garden hose connections ?, hope that helps
Re: connecting cask to beer engine
thanks scooby, that should do the trick.
Any idea about a connecting the 3/8" i.d. tube to the 1/2" i.d. tube?
Derek thanks the tip about the hose connector, i'm sure it would work brilliantly but this cask is for a friends wedding and looks are important!

Re: connecting cask to beer engine
Ive got a roll of 5/8 pvc pipe, 3/8 id, you would also need a couple of reducers to fit it to your 1/2 pipe, PM or ring me if your interested, ill sort you out, cheers
