My Igloo 45ltr Mash Tun

Post by StrangeBrew » Sun Jun 28, 2009 5:44 pm

It's nearly finished!

Just got to insulate the lid with some Mega Foam and it's ready.

Really pleased with the end result, dead space is approx 250ml without any restricting extention added to the tap to aid the syphon effect.
The manifold is soldered in 6 bits so it comes apart for easy cleaning.

Here's a few pics...

It'll be a bugger to clean though now you've soldered all the joints.
I could do with one of those things though, I think I'm out-growing my argos cool box...

Thanks for all your comments. I'm very pleased with it and can't wait to use it. Got to sort the boiler now!

Not all the joints are soldered, it comes apart in 6 main bits so will be easy to clean.

That's a real neat job, strangebrew. i done something similar, but used 22mm pipe for manifold into 15mm, theory being the larger pipe presented a larger surface area - don't know if there is any mileage to my logic.

How are you to sparge, batch or fly?
