Argon??
Argon??
Does anyone use the Oxyturbo cylinders like these?
I'm beginning to worry a bit because despite having 'oxygen' printed all over it, and being advertised as an oxygen bottle, it also has 'Argon' etched into the bottle itself and 'Argon' printed on a box on the label.
Have I been pumping Argon into my wort for the past year???

Re: Argon??
No experience with those, but Argon is a noble gas, and therefore completely inert. While it won't oxygenate your brew, it's won't do you any harm, either.

Yeah, I remember that much from Standard Grade chemistry. I'd just feel like a tosser if I had been pumping Argon into my wort all this timeJaz_Allen wrote:No experience with those, but Argon is a noble gas, and therefore completely inert. fill a container with the 'gas' . . . insert a glowing splint into the gas . . . if it relights it oxygen, if it goes out its Argon

Re: Argon??
Might be something to do with the connector. Oxygen and Argon gas cylinder connectors are the same. Most likely the cylinders are interchangeable due to this fact.

Re: Argon??
very timely. Not to highjack this thread, but, I happen to have a couple 20# bottles of Argon in my garage. I've often thought of using it with my breather for my cask ales. Seems it would work just fine as it's also used for pushing wine on tap.
