HERMS heat exchanger, built awaiting testing

Post by Bionicmunky » Thu Jul 30, 2009 8:26 pm

Hi all,

Firstly apologies I've not been around for a while. Work and Home Strife but nowt family related.

I've not brewed for almost 3 months and decided it was time to get the brewery back on track.

So........

I have over the last week or so been collecting parts for the below, it based on a 9L Burco Cygnet got for cheap on the bay.

Then whilst SWMBO was putting the little one down this eve I attacked it :-)

Making the holes in the lid with the help of a QMAX punch.

Tweak Tweak, crank, cut, tighten. The long legs on the 8mm are for height adjustment of the coil if need. The T-piece is from BES, 1/2" BSP -> 3mm gland form watch-hill screws into that.

It's air tight, so should be mash liquor tight :-) Testing commences Sunday.

Great 8)

I particularly enjoyed looking at the image of the cygnet interior.
