Digital Thermometer and Probe
Digital Thermometer and Probe
Hi everyone, Ive busted yet another glass stick thermometer so think i need a digi one with a probe.
Does anyone have a good one they can recommend? Preferably one where i can permanently fix the probe into the side of the HLT. It would be ideal to get a spare probe so i can screw one into the mash tun and just hook up the thermometer to one or the other as needed. Is this do-able?
cheers

You just reminded me that I bought this recently!

Thought why not since it was so cheap. Probably take 10 years to arrive though!
P.S, if it's any good I'll let you know and you can buy 2

Hmmm, that one will only go upto 70c. I know we mash at like 68c tops but then there's sparging, could prove to be a bit restrictive.

I bought a similar one to this a while back and although it stated that 70c was the limit, it actually went up to 100. Well, 99 then it displayed two zeros. Will have to wait and see. Happy enough either way though as I only need it to hit the 70c mark.Parva wrote:Hmmm, that one will only go upto 70c. I need to see if the battery is duff before throwing it away.

Hanna ones are really good - but pricey. Personally, I'd go for moveable rather than fixed in any particular vessel.
BTW - been drinking pints of Pliny the Elder. Very, very good, but doesn't make for coherent posts.

Tks floyd and pdtnc. Bargain! At 99p a go if one of these lasts me 3 brews then its 9 times better cost per use than the glass stick ones i keep breaking.
