Is a Better Bottle better?

Post by floydmeddler » Thu Sep 10, 2009 9:08 pm

Going to buy one of these tomorrow. http://www.better-bottle.com/technical. ... right.html

Fed up with my heavy glass one... This should be a dream to clean... :D

Do any of you own one? If so, what's the verdict?

Cheers.

I often use one for secondary.
They do exactly what they say on the tin.
Quality plastic and a nice strong construction.

If I could change one thing I would have one with about a another gallon of capacity. A 5 gallon brew only just squeezes in.

I do like my Better Bottle, I use it for secondary as long as I'm not messing about with dry hops or whatnot.

And Boingy is right, it's only 23 litres or so, which means I have on occasion had to use a gallon demijohn alongside the better bottle to handle a brew that is larger than that. (I think it's actually 6 us gallons)

I really like the tiny headspace you get when it's full with the lid on... Rather better than a normal bucket-type fermenter.

Cool. Have mine beside me now and my old glass one is giving it the evils  Look forward to using it. Cheers!

They work well as secondaries. Only gotcha I've noticed is don't fit a water-filled airlock and then pick one up...

Unlike glass, they flex and suck the water out of the airlock and into your beer. Take the airlock off before you move them.
