Fruit crusher

Post by edit1now » Sun Oct 11, 2009 6:33 pm

Anyone got an opinion on a fruit crusher which would be good for both grapes and apples please? I'm not yet ready to buy one of these for £350 + P&P, but I might build one of these. There is a certain reluctance to spend £150+ on something I'll use once or twice a year, though people keep offering me apples...

I just did a load of cider today and was phoned about an hour ago and offered 35lb of grapes. Try this http://www.kilgraney.com/Neil%20Frankli ... eepers.htm Subsonic

Edit - I ferment the grapes whole then press. Apples I chop roughly and press but next year I'm going to use a cheapo garden chipper first then press. A car jack press is the nuts. I'm also toying with using the vertical log splitter running off the back of the Unimog (just bodged a bit) to run the crush press. But yeah, cider is cool as its free! Subsonic

Trunky - which item did you mean at Brouwland? The link was to some aluminium bottle capsules #-o

Sub - Thanks for the link. I already have a little wine press I built:

but I need a crusher or scratter for apples and grapes.
