Source of cornie / gas fittings

Post by inthedark » Fri Oct 16, 2009 3:59 pm

I've got myself a pressure gauge with a 1/4 BSP threaded connector which I'd like to somehow connect to the gas post on a cornie.

Does anyone have a link to a good supplier for adapters and other bits to achieve something like this? I guess I need a 1/4 BSP to barbed hose connector as I've got a spare gas connector with barbed hose fitting, but I can't find one by Googling.

Any ideas?

I have been looking into doing this myself, but have come to a stop. I wanted to do it as neatly as possible with as fewer connections as possible. The corny 'gas in' pushfit adapter is 1/4" MFL (whatever the heck that is!) which equates to a 7/16 UNF thread. I have been unable to find a 7/16 UNF female to 1/4 BSP female adapter.

I know that doesn't help you much, but if anyone out there knows of an adapter like this, i would like to know about it too.

You can do it with JG fittings, but it's a bit bulky and untidy. 1x 1/4 BSP female threaded JG fitting to take 3/8 pipe will connect to the gauge with the standard JG fitting on the gas in connector. You just need an inch of 3/8 pipe. You can get these from the place Trunky said.

Get one of these.

Get some plumbers tape (60p) and wrap it around the thread on your gauge.
Screw the tail on tight.
Put some tubing between gauge and post.
Put the tubing in boiling water before fitting to the 'tails'. I got an airtight seal without any jubilee clips.

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks!

I'll bookmark the Harmony Hut one for later reference. Thanks all.

Apologies if I'm teaching you to suck eggs but....
You will need to make sure the 'tail' is airtight to the gauge with some type of sealant.
I used this stuff. Was about 60p from a 'leading hardware shop.'

Wrap it around the thread on the gauge a few times before screwing on the tail and you will get an airtight seal. you can see the white stuff on my pic.
Otherwise you'll have to track down the correct size sealing ring

Thanks, yeah I've got a couple of rolls of PTFE in the toolbox.
