Large Hydrometer
Large Hydrometer
Does anyone know where I can purchase a easy to read hydrometer. I struggle to see the readings at times with the two that I have

What sort of Range - Hamstead Homebrew do three two covering 1.000 to 1.050 (I have the Ten Quid Version) and One covering 1.050 to 1.100. Well worth the money
Re: Large Hydrometer
Thanks, £10 is fine but they want £23.5 for the One covering 1.050 to 1.100 Unless I've made a boo booAleman wrote:What sort of Range - Hamstead Homebrew do three two covering 1.000 to 1.050 (I have the Ten Quid Version) and One covering 1.050 to 1.100. Well worth the money

Re: Large Hydrometer
The 10 quid one is made for them . . .the two Alloa ones they have to buy from a wholesaler hence the difference in cost.
Re: Large Hydrometer
You may have to spend out on a larger trail jar I have the 1.000-1.050 and agree with Aleman, good value.
Re: Large Hydrometer
I bought one of the Hamstead large scale ones. It was not accurate. I took it back to the shop and tried half a dozen of them - half a dozen different readings

Re: Large Hydrometer
I think I did as well . . . One thing I have noticed with all the large scale hydrometers (And I've owned a few ) is that the paper can slip up and down the tube . . . so that occasionally you need to adjust them one way or the other by a gentle tapping of the hydrometer on a 'firm' base.
I've also confirmed the readings from mine using a sucrose solution and two refractometers . . . they all agreed.
And incidentally does Scooby really have a kangaroo in his garden
